The association conducts seminars, programs, and training to help enhance services, equipment, and customer awareness in the water quality improvement industry.

factors to consider before selecting a water quality company or vendor

Determine that the company or business:

  • Has an office address.
  • Has had significant experience in the industry or holds a Certified Water Specialist credential issued by the Water Quality Association.
  • Has a contractor’s license and/or a city business license.
  • Is active in the local business community with memberships in such organizations as the Chamber of Commerce, or the Better Business Bureau.
  • Is a member of the Pacific Water Quality Association.
  • Can provide consumers with product warranty information, operating instructions, information on obtaining professional equipment maintenance, and has the means to determine equipment is operating properly.
  • Certified any drinking water equipment that makes a health claim with the CA Department of Health Services if you are located in the state of California. You should discuss compliance with these laws with your PWQA water quality improvement professional.

Water quality improvement technologies

The following are various types of water quality improvement systems, which may or may not apply to your particular water problems. Discuss the options available to you with your water quality improvement professional:

  • Carbon Filtration
  • Distillation
  • Ion-exchange Demineralization
  • Ion-exchange Softening
  • Iron or Oxidizing Filtration
  • Neutralizing Filtration
  • Ozone
  • Pot Feeders or Chemical Feed Pumps
  • Reverse Osmosis
  • Sand Filtration
  • Sediment Filtration
  • Ultraviolet (UV) Sterilization

Any method other than those listed above should be investigated carefully before making a purchase. No one piece of equipment is a cure-all for all water problems or perform well without reasonable maintenance.

Be wary of any salesperson who may imply that a particular technology will improve all water problems, or require no maintenance.
